Acenac-P Tablet is the pain-relieving medicine which helps in alleviating inflammatory pain related to various medical problems related to joints and bone such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and osteoarthritis, and also helps to relieve muscle pain, back pain, toothache, and even ear and throat pain.
It has a combination of paracetamol and aceclofenac. It comes under Schedule H drugs which means it cannot be purchased without a proper physician’s prescription.
Paracetamol
It is the active metabolite of phenacetin. Phenacetin is an inactive form but when metabolized by de-ethylation it gets active and that form is known as paracetamol. This active metabolite paracetamol works by increasing pain threshold with its weak peripheral anti-inflammatory element.
It has additive analgesic action with its spontaneous antipyretic that means treating fever as well as pain in one dose.
Paracetamol has negligible anti-inflammatory action has weak inhibitor of PG synthesis in peripheral tissues, but is more active on COX 1 or COX 2 in the brain.

It is unable to inhibit COX in the presence of peroxides which are generated at sites of inflammation which opens divergence in its analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory properties, as peroxides are actually not present in the brain, so is no effective at that site.
The ability of paracetamol to inhibit COX-3 also accounts for its analgesic-antipyretic action. It acts as antipyretic by inhibiting the release or synthesis of Prostaglandin (PG) hormone which is actually released by pyrogen causing increase in body temperature.
Aceclofenac
It inhibits prostaglandin (PG) synthesis and is preferentially COX-2 inhibitors instead of COX 1, that is why it is more effective with less side effects to stomach problems.
It works by stopping the impacts of cyclooxygenase (COX) proteins, which deliver prostaglandins causing irritation and agony flagging.
Aceclofenac binds with enzymes and undergo chemical reactions like oxidative digestion converting to hydroxy metabolites as well as formation to glucuronic corrosive, sulfate, and taurine.

Safety Advice of Acenac-P tablet
- The drug has to be taken with food to avoid stomach problems like stomach upset, gastric ulcers.
- The drug has to be taken with water. It is not advisable to crush, or take it by any other means.
- It is not suitable for everyone so everytime consult a physician before taking this drug.
- Avoid taking this medication with any other drugs containing paracetamol as an active ingredient as it may cause paracetamol toxicity.
- It may cause dizziness or sleepiness, so avoid driving after taking this medication.

- To avoid risk of liver damage, avoid consuming alcohol with it as it might even increase risk of drowsiness.
- As this medication has increased risk of stomach ulcers, it is better to inform the physician about the history of stomach ulcers if they have any.

- There is no document or research available regarding the effect of this medication on breastfeeding. So better to consult a physician about this.
- Avoid consuming fatty or fried or junk foods with this medication to avoid nausea and vomiting like side-effects.
