Aciloc tablets contain “Ranitidine” as an active ingredient to treat problems like peptic ulcers, gastric ulcers, and most importantly gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
They work by reducing the production of acid produced in our stomach. It comes under the category of first class highly effective drug for treatment of acid-peptic disease. It acts by blocking H2 receptors which are involved in production of acid.
The gastric acid is produced by gastric parietal cells located in gastric glands found in the lining of the fundus and body regions of the stomach. To activate these cells, proton pump H⁺K⁺ATPase enzyme comes into action which is further activated by H2 receptors.

When we ingest food, this food interacts with and activates gastrin in G cells of the stomach. This gastrin causes CCK2 to work up and release histamine is responsible for activating H2 receptors which will now activate this proton pump by releasing Ca2⁺ ions by generating CAMP.
Thus, this cycle works by release of gastric acid through a proton pump.
Now, how does ranitidine work? This drug acts by blocking the activation H2 receptors which will not further activate proton pump and thus inhibiting the release of gastric acid causing problems of peptic ulcer, gastric, GERD.

Overview Aciloc 150 Tablet
H2 blockade
This drug causes blockage of histamine induced gastric release, cardiac stimulation, uterine relaxation and even bronchial relaxation. They are competitive antagonists of cells releasing histamine.
Gastric ulcers
It helps in suppression of gastric release at all phases i.e. basal, psychic, neurogenic, and gastric. These phases are inhibited depending on the dose amount, but more impact occurs in the basal effect.

It has an impact on all other stimuli as well that are acetylcholine, gastrin, insulin, alcohol, as well as food. It affects 60-70 % reduced volume secretion of gastric juice, pepsin content within 24 hrs.
It also prevents the effect of gastric juice which occurs due to stress and drugs like NSAIDs and many other drugs without impacting the absorption of vitamin B12.
GERD
It helps by decreasing the acidity of gastric juice released but not wholly acid suppression with increase in pH more than 4 for less than 8 hrs in 24 hrs duration.
